Why Consider It
One Piece of the Puzzle
Feeling exhausted, noticing more hair shedding, struggling with exercise or just not feeling like yourself? Iron deficiency may be one piece of the puzzle.
Common in Women
Iron deficiency is common in women, particularly during the reproductive and perimenopausal years.
Gradual Depletion
Heavy or prolonged periods, pregnancy, diet, reduced absorption and other blood loss can slowly deplete your iron stores.
Before Anemia
Some people experience symptoms of iron deficiency before developing iron-deficiency anemia.
Nurse Practitioner Led
Every plan starts with a Nurse Practitioner assessment and bloodwork, then medically supervised treatment in our clinic.
What Is an IV Iron Infusion?
Iron, Delivered by IV
IV iron delivers prescribed iron directly into your bloodstream under medical supervision.
It may be an option when iron replacement is needed and oral supplements haven’t worked well, have caused unwanted side effects, or when IV iron is considered a better option for your individual needs.
Not everyone with low iron needs an infusion. We look at the whole picture, including your bloodwork, symptoms, health history and previous treatments, to determine what’s appropriate for you.
Symptoms May Include
- Fatigue or low energy
- Reduced exercise tolerance
- Shortness of breath with activity
- Headaches or dizziness
- Difficulty concentrating or brain fog
- Restless legs
- Hair shedding or thinning
- Feeling cold
- Heart palpitations
Setting Expectations
We Test Rather Than Guess
These symptoms are not specific to iron deficiency and can have many different causes. That’s why we start with a proper medical assessment and bloodwork rather than treating symptoms alone.
Low Iron, Normal Hemoglobin
You can have a hemoglobin level in the normal range while your body's iron stores are low. Ferritin is one of the blood tests we use to assess your stored iron.
When Ferritin Looks "Normal"
A lab reference range doesn't always tell the whole story. We look at ferritin, CBC, hemoglobin, iron studies, symptoms, history and possible causes of iron loss together.
Iron and Perimenopause
Periods can become heavier, longer or more unpredictable. Fatigue, brain fog and hair changes overlap with perimenopause, so sometimes it's hormones, sometimes iron, sometimes both.
Your Experience
How It Works at Seamless Health
The goal isn’t simply to chase a number. It’s to find out whether iron deficiency is actually present, why it’s happening and what treatment makes sense for you.
1
Nurse Practitioner Consultation
We review your symptoms, health history, medications, previous iron treatment, relevant menstrual history and potential causes of iron deficiency.
2
Bloodwork
Appropriate bloodwork must be completed within 30 days of your infusion. We review your results to determine whether an IV iron infusion is appropriate for you.
3
Your IV Iron Infusion
If you are an appropriate candidate, your Nurse Practitioner arranges the prescription and treatment plan. Your infusion is given in our Stouffville clinic by a qualified healthcare professional.
4
Monitoring
You are monitored during and following your treatment, and your Nurse Practitioner reviews your follow-up bloodwork with you.

I love this clinic. They are professional and take the time to hear what it is you are looking for. Causes of the issues you are having are explained and the options that can benefit you. The Botox has helped my family member with terrible jaw pain and headaches. I’d recommend it to anyone and we will be continuing to use them.
Cheri is amazing. She gets right down to business, knows the industry, nutrition and information you need to make the best decision for yourself. She listens and provides feedback easily! Highly recommend Seamless Health!
The team at Seamless Health is truly second to none! I have been seeing Cheri for injections for years, first for migraines and then some subtle cosmetic enhancements. I look refreshed, never frozen, and every time I see her she has some new course she’s taking to further her expertise. I want the injector that other injectors go to, and that’s her! I trust Cheri & Steve 100% and highly recommend!
We just moved to Stouffville and I was looking for a new safe place for all skin care needs , I am beyond grateful for Cheri and her team! Cheri was disarming , calm and incredibly knowable from the start. She explained all aspects of my questions from dissolving filler to hormones! I truly feel like I have found a new home for all things in healthy skin care!
Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you have low iron with normal hemoglobin?
Yes. You can have a hemoglobin level that falls within the normal range while your body’s iron stores are low. Ferritin is one of the blood tests we use to help assess your stored iron, and some people experience symptoms of iron deficiency before developing iron-deficiency anemia.
My ferritin is "normal". Could I still be iron deficient?
Being within a laboratory reference range doesn’t always tell the whole story. Ferritin is only one part of the assessment. Your Nurse Practitioner looks at your ferritin, CBC, hemoglobin, iron studies, symptoms, health history and possible causes of iron loss together.
Does everyone with low ferritin need an IV iron infusion?
No. IV iron isn’t necessary for everyone with a low ferritin level. It may be considered when oral iron has not been effective or well tolerated, or when your healthcare provider determines intravenous replacement is appropriate. Your plan is based on your bloodwork, symptoms, health history and individual needs.
Can low iron be linked to perimenopause?
It can. During perimenopause, periods may become heavier, longer or more unpredictable, and increased menstrual blood loss can deplete iron stores over time. Some symptoms of low iron, such as fatigue, brain fog, hair changes and reduced exercise tolerance, also occur in perimenopause, so we test rather than guess.
How much does an iron infusion cost?
The total is $350: $150 for your Nurse Practitioner assessment and $200 for your IV iron infusion.
Do I need bloodwork before my infusion?
Yes. Appropriate bloodwork must be completed within 30 days of your infusion. We review your results to determine whether an IV iron infusion is appropriate for you.
Who is the iron infusion service for?
Our outpatient IV iron service is intended for appropriate, otherwise healthy adult women with confirmed iron deficiency who can safely receive treatment in a community medical clinic. We want to understand why your iron is low and whether additional investigation is needed.
