Calm the redness. Keep it calm.

Rosacea can’t be cured, but the flushing, persistent redness and visible vessels that come with it respond remarkably well to the right light-based treatment and a gentler skincare routine.

The short answer

Rosacea is chronic and can’t be cured, but its redness and visible vessels respond very well to IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), supported by regenerative options we offer like PRP and exosomes and a gentle, barrier-supporting skincare plan. Aggressive treatments like deep microneedling or laser resurfacing aren’t first-line and can make rosacea worse, so the plan is deliberately calm.

Understanding the condition

What is rosacea?

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that mainly affects the central face, cheeks, nose, chin and forehead. It shows up as persistent redness, easy flushing, visible broken blood vessels (telangiectasia), and sometimes acne-like bumps and a burning or stinging sensation.

It’s most common in fair-skinned adults aged 30 to 50 and tends to flare with recognisable triggers: sun, heat, alcohol, spicy food, stress and harsh skincare. It’s often mistaken for acne or a “high colour” complexion, which is why so many people treat it the wrong way for years before getting a diagnosis.

Step one

Which type of rosacea?

Rosacea has several subtypes, and they don’t all respond to the same treatment. Identifying yours is the first thing we do. It decides whether IPL, skincare, or a referral is the right lead.

SubtypeWhat it looks likeWhat tends to help
Redness & flushingPersistent central-face redness, easy blushing, visible vesselsIPL + gentle skincare + trigger control
Bumps & pustulesAcne-like papules and pustules on a red baseMedical skincare (azelaic acid); IPL once calm
Thickened skinSkin thickening, usually around the noseMedical referral, managed separately

Our approach

How Seamless Health treats rosacea

Rosacea skin is reactive, so the plan is deliberately gentle. We calm and protect the skin barrier first, then treat the visible vessels and redness with light.

Best for · redness & visible vessels

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

IPL targets the dilated blood vessels that cause rosacea's redness and flushing, reducing visible vessels and evening out tone. It's the leading in-clinic treatment for the redness of rosacea, done as a gentle series.

In-clinic · we offer

PRP for Facial Rejuvenation

Using your own platelet-rich plasma to calm and strengthen the skin, PRP supports a healthier barrier and less reactivity, a regenerative option we pair with IPL for suitable rosacea patients, with no aggressive heat.

In-clinic · we offer

Exosome therapy

Exosomes deliver skin-signalling messengers that soothe inflammation and rejuvenate sensitive skin, a gentle, modern add-on well suited to rosacea's need for low-inflammation treatment.

Foundation · every plan

Gentle skincare & trigger control

A barrier-supporting routine (azelaic acid where appropriate) plus mapping your personal flare triggers, sun, heat, alcohol, stress. Harsh actives and scrubs are removed, because they make rosacea worse.

What we won't recommend

We won't aggressively resurface active rosacea

Deep microneedling and high-heat laser resurfacing are marketed as fixes for almost everything, but on active rosacea they can trigger flares and worsen redness. Rosacea skin needs soothing, precise light-based treatment and gentle regenerative care, not trauma. If a clinic pushes aggressive resurfacing for your redness, be cautious.

Your Journey

What to Expect

Rosacea is managed over time. The aim is fewer flares and steadily calmer skin, not an overnight fix.

01

Consult

We confirm the subtype, map your triggers, and check nothing else is driving the redness.

02

Soothe the barrier

Switch to a gentle medical routine to reduce reactivity before any in-clinic treatment.

03

Treat the redness

A series of IPL sessions to reduce visible vessels and diffuse redness.

04

Individual results and timelines vary. A consultation with our medical team is required before any treatment.

Common Questions

Rosacea, answered

The questions patients, and search engines, ask most.

No. Rosacea is a chronic condition that is managed rather than cured. The good news is that its most visible signs (facial redness, flushing and broken vessels) respond very well to treatment. The goal is long-term control: fewer flares, less visible redness, and calmer skin.

For the diffuse redness and visible vessels of rosacea, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is the leading in-clinic treatment. It targets the dilated vessels causing the redness. IPL is paired with gentle, barrier-supporting skincare and trigger management for lasting results.

Microneedling is not a first-line treatment for active rosacea and can aggravate sensitive, inflamed skin. Rosacea is best treated with light-based therapy such as IPL and a gentle skincare plan. We don’t recommend microneedling on actively flaring rosacea.

Most people need a series of 3 to 5 IPL sessions spaced about 3 to 4 weeks apart, followed by occasional maintenance. Because rosacea is chronic, periodic top-up treatments help keep redness and vessels under control.

Treatment significantly reduces visible redness and vessels, but flushing is partly driven by triggers. Combining IPL with trigger management gives the best control, most people see far fewer and milder flares rather than a total, permanent stop.
